Having the support of a postpartum doula can have a huge impact on new mothers and families. I provide support and information about infant care and feeding support.
Finding time for things like a showering or sleeping can be difficult. I provide assistance and relief so that women have time for a break, time for a nap or whatever the new family needs. I will assist with care for other children in your home, or support you with anything that is presenting itself as a stress. I will provide direction to community resources for new (or seasoned) parents and infants.
Postpartum support is not discussed as much as it should be, and during this tender postpartum time, support is essential. Even a few hours of support can help families to know they are cared for by a professional dedicated to their unique needs. Professional support in the postpartum time can greatly reduce postpartum depression and help families understand how to identify how to best support new mothers.
*Postpartum hours may be included in your Birth Package, or charged separately. Ask me about how this works.
Call the office to schedule your postpartum hours or just to have a chat about what this kind of support can do for you and your family.
Birth Sharing & Connecting
Are you ready to tell your story? So often we are not granted a safe space to share, to talk with other moms and hear the details that are forever in our minds.
Join me and other women as we drink tea, share our stories and experience validation, release of fear and celebration of joy. Each mom is unique and has a unique story to share.
Sit with us in community, share stories and invite wisdom: from other moms and from Kathleen.
Please call us at the office to find out when our next birth sharing gathering is taking place. We invite you all, and promise you a safe and supportive space. Plus, you are likely to get some great tips on things like baby wearing, diapering, breastfeeding and anything else a new mom like you are interested in knowing and/or talking about.
$40 per hour
You will be gently guided towards a successful breastfeeding relationship. In-home consult will: assess feeding patterns, observe a feeding and latch, talk about concerns and help to normalize breastfeeding in the home. Focus will be on establishing good patterns of feeding, understanding cues, normal expectations and any questions related to the breastfeeding relationship.
Support is provided, easy-to-learn techniques are introduced, or reminded, and any information to families about breastfeeding and community support will be given.
If you are experiencing any difficulty that we assess to be out of the realms of our knowledge base, we have a superb list for referrals. Our mandate is to return the basic breastfeeding knowledge back into the community of mothers
